Petition Against Monsanto- biggest supplier of GMO's, pesticides, and herbicides in the world!

I received this email and I hope you take the time to read it and understand that we need to fight for our right to KNOW whether or not the foods we are buying at the grocery store for ourselves and our families are genetically modified or not. I can't believe Monsanto and other large GMO companies have been allowed by the FDA to sell GMO products to food manufacturing companies and the food companies don't even have to tell us that there are GMO's in it! That's just crazy to me!! Beware when it says "all natural" because that's not technically true if there are GMO ingredients in it. Read Below.

Dear GMO labeling warriors,

Last night I received a disturbing phone call. It was from a source in DC telling me a large PR firm dedicates over 50 staff fulltime to the Monsanto account - and it’s going to get worse. Yesterday Monsanto and... the biotech bullies launched a new website dedicated to misinforming the public and disseminating pro-GMO propaganda full time to the media.

For years, Monsanto and the biotech industry have retained the best PR firms on the planet to promote their lies in the media, but now, because of the growing GMO labeling movement, they’ve been forced to come out into the open.

Only a year ago, Monsanto thought they had us beat, but we’ve refused to give up. The one thing that Monsanto and their gang of biotech bullies fear the most is the Truth. Make no doubt about it, this new website is an anti-GMO labeling ploy to once again deceive the American public and the media.

Right now the battle for GMO labeling is heating up in Washington and other states around the country and we need your help to make sure voters hear the Truth over Monsanto’s lies. Fortunately, we’ve got some angels on our side.

In the next 72 hours, Food Democracy Now! needs your help to raise $50,000 to make sure we can defeat Monsanto’s lies - two generous donors have pledged $50,000 each to match those funds to help us win GMO labeling, including Yes on 522 in Washington state.

Donate right now so we can stop Monsanto’s propaganda machine cold in Washington State and your pledge will be Tripled by 2 generous donors who want to see us win the fight for GMO labeling! It’s time that Americans have the right to know what Monsanto is feeding us! Every dollar counts!

Last year Monsanto helped lead the charge to defeat Prop 37 in California by donating $8.1 million to stop the American public from knowing what’s in our food! In total, the chemical and junk food companies spent more than $46 million to kill GMO labeling with dishonest TV and radio ads to deceive California voters.

We came close to winning in California, but because of their lies, money and ads they were able to defeat us last November. We’ve had some incredible victories with GMO labeling bills passing in Connecticut and Maine just last month, but we need to win Yes on 522 in Washington and other states to keep the momentum going!

We know that we can never match the billions of dollars that Monsanto and the biotech companies have at their disposal, but we have something stronger – YOU and the TRUTH!

Using our power in numbers is the only way we can take on Monsanto, and the rest of the biotech bullies. That’s why we need all 650,000 of us to each chip in a little bit today to help get the word out to combat Monsanto's misinformation campaign. Click here to stand with us in our fight by making your small contribution:

The other side won't rest. They have billions of dollars to stop every reform we want - and they work day and night with stadiums full of lobbyists to spread their propaganda to the American public and elected officials.

Each time they try, we need to be there to stop them. To trump corporate influence with people power, to expose their lies and propaganda for what it is, and show politicians that we will hold them accountable.

Monsanto and the biotech industry has never faced this before - people power at its finest, with thousands of everyday citizens chipping in a small amount to make a sum total far greater than its parts, motivated not by greed but by moral duty. But to be out there effectively at a moment's notice - on the streets, in the press, on the web, in the Capitol - this time we need you to vote with your wallet in whatever amount you can afford:

http://fdn.actionkit.com/go/1007?t=12&akid=935.886225.59A_9Q

Monsanto has all the lobbyists, spin doctors, industry 'scientists' and lawyers they need to force farmers off their land and keep their monopoly over our food system. Us? We've got each other. Each of us chipping in what we can afford can create campaigns that rival Monsanto and others' influence and hold them accountable.

This power in numbers has them running scared - why do you think they need 50 PR staff? That's why I'm asking you to exercise that power today by chipping in what you can to stand up to Monsanto and the biotech industry’s lies.

Thanks for participating in food democracy,

Dave, Lisa and the Food Democracy Now! team

Simple Sugars Natural Body and Facial Scrubs

Simple Sugars

I found this brand after watching Shark Tank with my hubby one night. It was a young girl asking for help for her business from one of the "sharks" and she had this all natural product that she claimed cured her Eczema (extremely dry skin). One of the investors, Mark Cuban found an interest because his kids suffer from Eczema so he wanted to help her business grow. I was feeling the same because she was so young and so hard working that I was like, Breno, let's look it up and buy it! So we bought the "Coffee Facial Scrub".

Let me tell you, this stuff is AWESOME! I really love this scrub!

My skin is all over the place. Like the professional at the spa told me who was about to do my facial, "you're skin is very confused". LOL My skin gets dry and then oily, and then it breaks out and gets red. It doesn't know what it wants! I've tried all sorts of products. I have sooooo many samples from Sephora and have bought and returned so many products I'm surprised they don't have me on a "WANTED" list to make sure I never go in there! I just bought this Clarisonic face massager thing for $149 at Sephora and I returned it because it's not better than this scrub! This scrub has very large sugar crystals in it so make sure you don't scrub too hard. It has an oil base so when I first saw it I was afraid because I thought for sure I was going to break out. It actually was the opposite. It cleared my skin and gave me a very nice glow. The oil is very soothing and made my face feel very smooth and gives it elasticity.

When I re-ordered it, I also ordered the Eucalyptus body scrub and I'm very excited to try it out. I get those red bumps on the back on my upper arm which the dermatologist said is when you have very dry skin. It's funny because I get it in the summer more than the winter (weird). I've tried KP Duty for a while and it wasn't my favorite. I can't say that it was a life saver but I guess it worked a little bit. I'm curious to see what happens to the back of my arms after I use the body scrub. I'll check back to you guys on it!

When I ordered the new batch, I also received an "Ingredients List" and to give even MORE confirmation that I love this product, she uses almost ALL 100% ORGANIC INGREDIENTS!!! That's REALLY awesome! Since there's nothing weird or hard to pronounce on the ingredients list, I'm sure that is why my face didn't break out! Some of the ingredients include: organic sugar cane, organic grapeseed oil, sweet cherry kernel oil, apricot oil, coffee, raw cocoa, cinnamon...you get the picture - good stuff.

WHO'S READY FOR THE BEST PART????
THE PRICE IS ONLY $16.95!!!!

So for the Coffee Facial Scrub and the Eucalyptus Body Scrub (also $16.95) WITH shipping I spent $41.71.

Clarins Beauty Flash Balm $35

I found that my skin likes these 2 products together. I am IN LOVE with this Clarins Beauty Flash Balm face cream. I use it for day and night and it's been working really great. I honestly think it's promoted as a cream that goes under make up but I don't care. It's working for me! lol I've been trying to find products to help me stay away from wearing foundation especially in the summer because it's so hot. I hate the feeling of sweating in this humidity that when you wipe your face, there's going to be make up. It's so gross!! So I was hoping that my skin would get clear and smooth enough that I didn't have to wear foundation and so far, I've been staying au natural throughout the day and at night if I go out, I put a little foundation and blush. But that's about it. I'm really happy with the results the past 2 months. I bought the Clarins Beauty Balm at Sephora for $35 plus tax :-)

People who know me well, know that when I like something, WATCH OUT. I promote things to death! LOL I can't help it. I get really passionate about things I like (and don't like) and I like to tell everyone about it. I'm really happy for this girl and the success of her business. She has created a great product and I am happy to share my experience with others!

NON GMO Project Verified BRANDS and PRODUCTS that I use!

Here's a very small list compared to the MANY brands that carry the NON GMO Project Symbol of approval. I'll be promoting different brands that I like personally or that I use a lot!

Here's a short list of some popular brands you might see in your supermarket that are NON GMO:

HAHAHA I had to add this brand! Not sure where it's sold but it's a great name!

I just bought these Houweling's Tomatoes on the vine at King Kullen on Long Island 2lbs for $5!
Kashi has been a little controversial because not all of their products are gmo free. Here is a list of which products by Kashi are certified gmo free:
Verified7 Whole Grain Flakes
Verified7 Whole Grain Pilaf
Verified7 Whole Grain Puffs
VerifiedAutumn Wheat
VerifiedBerry Fruitful
VerifiedCinnamon Harvest
VerifiedIsland Vanilla
VerifiedOrganic Cinnamon Harvest
VerifiedOrganic Flakes and Berries
VerifiedOrganic Promise Blackberry Hills
VerifiedPuffed Grain
VerifiedRaisin Vineyard
VerifiedStrawberry Fields

I just bought these chocolate bars by Native Forest. They were 2 for $5 and really really good! They also donate part of the profits to helping animals. 2 good things with this brand!

I JUST bought this brand Nature Fed eggs at Whole Foods for only $3.99!! It's very hard to find "real" eggs for cheaper than $5.00 and these ones are the jackpot! If I don't buy directly from a farm for about .40 to .50 per egg, these are definitely affordable and very good for you!
Nature's Path has pretty tasty cereals. I just bought the Koala Cocoa Crisps. They taste healthy though so we mix them with Barbara's peanut butter puffins and then it's REALLY good! lol
I buy Once Again peanut butter and almond butter. It's very good and I have found it on sale for a pretty nice price at Fairway. (there are Fairway markets in CT, NYC, NJ, Brooklyn, and Queens)
Organic Valley is sold pretty much anywhere. It's a great brand because they are such a big company but still family owned and not bought out by the big corporations. Anytime any of their products are on sale, I buy it quick! I just bought Organic Valley cream cheese at Whole Foods for $2.39 and their half gallons of milk at Uncle Giuseppe's were 2 for $5 which is a steal! (don't know if the promotion is still going on but I would definitely call and check!)
Pacific makes a DELICIOUS hazelnut chocolate non dairy milk. It is really something you have to try! We drink cow's milk but like to switch it up with nut milks and coconut milk because it's healthy. The hazelnut milk, not on sale, is only like $2.49.
My mom goes nuts for this brand Peanut Butter & Co...well I do too actually. You know why?? They have a chocolate peanut butter spread!!!!!! It's REALLY good! I don't remember the price but I think it was around $4.

Breno and I love Santa Cruz Organic juices. They are almost always on sale wherever you go. I just got them at Fairway 3 for $5 PLUS had a coupon for $1 off on one of the bottles. So I got 3 for $4 which is a great price! We got Cherry Lemonade, Orange Mango which is our favorite, and Limeade. Today I saw them also on sale at Whole Foods 2 for $4 and there is a coupon on them for $1 off!

This was a surprise to me!! I didn't know Silk was NON GMO. Very good to know!
We love Kensington & Sons regular and spiced Ketchups. We use them at Bistro 7 (our restaurant) in Wilton. Everyone compliments us and wants to buy it! They also have a REALLY good mayonnaise and chipotle mayonnaise: all ingredients that you see all the time!
WOW! This was a surprise right?? I'm really happy to see Snyder's on this list! They are really popular and you can find them just about everywhere!!!

Same with this brand! Surprised to see them too and very happy! I didn't know they were GMO free so I wasn't buying them but now I will! I see them almost everywhere even Walmart I believe.

I'm happy to see Stash on this list too. I love their chai tea and would buy their teas anytime I saw them on sale. They are definitely not too expensive at all and at Stop and Shop I've gotten them like 3 for $7: a pretty good deal!

Have you ever tried them? They're really good! I like Republic of Tea Teas :)

YAY! I buy Tonnino a lot. They are not the cheapest, but they are REALLY good. I usually spend about $3.99 per can or get a really big can (at least 4 servings) for $6.99.

I just bought a bunch of their teas and pretty much because they were on sale for $3.49 each and also I saw the NON GMO Project certification. I bought Smooth Move in Chocolate (I love to cleanse sometimes!), Cold PM, and Throat Coat. (Duh, every singer has Throat Coat!!)
I was just at my mom and dad's house and my mom introduced me to Van's frozen waffles. VERY good and tasty! They were inexpensive according to my mom and they are sold at many regular supermarkets.
